Victoria Carey - The Editor's Collection

Victoria Carey, Editor of Country Style magazine, created her Editor's Collection from the beautiful, relaxed range of bed linen launched by Country Style earlier this year. To get a feel for Victoria's personal style, we asked her about a few of her favourite things.

When asked to choose her favourite piece from her Editor's Collection, she settles on the Amber linen cushion. "I love the lace trim and it is very versatile – it looks just as good on a linen slip-covered armchair as it does on my bed," she says. Her own bedroom is elegantly simple, with off-white walls and black japanned floors. "I collect old linens - some of which I used for inspiration for the Country Style range - and I have used them in the past to make pillow slips," she says. "At the moment I've hung an antique sheet with a lace border as a curtain - I always like to look at using things differently." As for her favourite piece of furniture? "My great grandmother Amelia's chaise longue — it is now very worn and needs reupholstering but that's what I love about it the most."

Her favourite images from the current issue of Country Style? She chose half a dozen beautiful shots, which you can see below with her explanation of what makes them special. Finally, Victoria has chosen her favourite pieces from our Heaven in Earth sale feature - see her picks.

This house (photographed by Sharyn Cairns) just shows what someone with a good eye can create without a lot of money. Illustrator Paula Mills has perfected the art of hanging pictures as you can see in this photograph.

I think I have drunk a lot more tea since I first discovered Paula Mills' print, "Where there's tea, there's hope." It has become my personal motto of the moment! (Photographer: Sharyn Cairns.)

Paula's prints hang above her little girl Rosie's bed — the colour palette is reflected in the bed cover and I think ties it all together beautifully. For more of her work, visit www.paulamillsillustration.com. (Photographer: Sharyn Cairns.)

We all need a tent to lounge around on one of those lovely long hot afternoons I hope we are going to get this summer. (Photographer: Lisa Cohen, stylist: Indiana Foord.)

Nature really does get it right – I love the use of colour in the botanical world. (Photographer Claire Takacs.)

Designer Justin Bishop is a master at using shades of white — and his collections of objects add a patina to his interiors that is really very beautiful. One of my favourites. (Photographer: Mark Roper.)
