Office Chairs

Selecting the right seat comes down to internal support rather than surface aesthetics alone. Featuring 300+ office chairs spanning various tilt and recline mechanisms, prioritise how the frame supports active movement throughout the workday before narrowing down your preferred upholstery and style.

Mesh, upholstered and executive office chairs

Our range of office chairs spans mesh office chairs built for breathability through long sitting sessions, fully upholstered chairs in velvet or boucle for a softer look in a shared living space, and executive chairs with a higher back and, in some cases, a built-in footrest. A mesh chair tends to suit warmer rooms or anyone who runs hot through a full working day, as the material is the most breathable style available.

An executive chair with a footrest suits longer sitting stretches where reclining matters as much as upright support. Task chairs, often sold in sets of two for shared or commercial spaces, tend to prioritise a simpler, more compact frame over either of those and are a great choice for smaller desks and study desks.

If the chair needs to match a new desk setup, our desk range covers both fixed and sit-stand options to build around.

Office chair swivel and gas lift mechanisms

Swivel bases with gas lift height adjustment are the standard option across the market and our range, which means height and rotation are rarely the differentiator between two otherwise similar chairs. What does vary is castor type, back height, and whether the chair includes armrests, with several cross-legged and armless designs sold specifically for a home office where the chair also needs to look at home in a living space.

Colour runs heavily toward black, with white and grey combinations making up most of the rest. If you're looking for a new chair it's worth considering the flooring, as most chair wheels can mark wooden floors or wear into carpet, so either replacing the castors with rubber or roller-blade style wheels or adding a floor mat for your particular surface can add an extra level of security.

For overflow seating in the same room, armchairs are a great choice for occasional work or study when you don't need to be tied to the desk.

Gaming chairs for reclining office chair options

A handful of gaming chairs are available. They’re distinguished by a higher back, a more aggressive recline angle, and, often, leather-look upholstery rather than mesh. These suit a dedicated gaming or hybrid work setup where extended recline matters more than the upright posture support a standard task chair prioritises. Gaming chairs represent a distinct seating category engineered for specific posture demands. While their high-back designs excel during reclined play, dedicated office chairs offer superior dynamic support and breathability for extended desk work.

Frequently asked questions

Do office chair castors suit hard flooring or carpet?

Most office chairs in our range roll well on hard flooring straight out of the box, however they can run the risk of marking softer wood or wearing into carpet. Consider upgrading to rubber or roller-blade style castors or adding a floor mat for either hard floors or carpet if you're worried about wear and tear.

Are mesh or upholstered office chairs better?

Mesh suits warmer rooms and longer sitting sessions as it breathes better than fabric. Upholstered chairs suit a shared living space where appearance matters as much as ventilation.

Do all office chairs have height adjustment?

Most use a gas lift and swivel base, which covers height and rotation. Recline range and armrests vary more between individual chairs.

What's the difference between a task chair and an executive chair?

A task chair is a simpler, more compact frame, often sold in sets for shared spaces. An executive chair typically has a higher back and more padding, and sometimes a built-in footrest.

Are gaming chairs suitable for regular desk work?

They can be, particularly for anyone who wants a higher recline angle. They're built around a different posture to a standard task chair, so it's worth trying the recline range before committing.
