How does the editor behind one of our favourite magazines do Christmas? We caught up with Claire Bradley, editor of Inside Out Magazine, and found she's pretty relaxed about the silly season, as long as the tree is the real deal. Are you a Christmas planner or a last-minute person? I plan a colour palette a fair way out – because that's the fun part – but food and presents seem to be getting more and more last-minute. I'll have a basic plan in my head, then execute a solid strategic mission a day or two beforehand.
Describe your Christmas style? I alternate between fairly traditional neutral textures and mad, childish colours and pattern. I do love decorating my place, and my efforts often hang around a little too long after the big day.
Where will you celebrate this year? TBC, I'm considering a last-minute trip to Dubai to help a friend settle in to her new expat life. That'll be quite a different version for me if it happens.
Three things always on your festive table? Baked ham, crackers and an ice-cream dessert of some sort.
Any decorating traditions? I always make at least a couple of new decorations. Last year I made a wreath, this time I think I'll do some soft linen heart bunting to wrap around the tree. Oh, and always a real tree. I come from a long line of arboreal purists.
Top of your gift wishlist? A Kimmy Hogan print. I've dropped some subtle hints, such as sending my mum a link to the exact one I'd like with a note saying, 'Hey Mum, this is the one I'd love you to buy me for Christmas.'
Best Christmas present you've received? Last year I received a pale blue Le Creuset pot from my family and I use it all the time. When it's not in use, it's sitting pretty on my benchtop.
On Boxing Day I… try not to do anything but always end up feeling social and making too many plans. Turns out I can in fact entertain 15 friends around my dad, who's marooned himself on the sofa watching the cricket.
