If you’re looking for the modern architectural lines of a complete S-Fold curtain and track set, the secret to a professional designer look is in the measurements. Follow these steps to prepare your order. 


 

Custom order checklist

Before you begin measuring, keep these essentials in mind:

1. Width and stacking: Plan for ‘stacking’. This is the extra track width needed for the fabric to bunch at the sides without blocking the window glass.
2. Obstacles: Identify any protruding handles, radiators, or skirting boards that may interfere with the curtain’s hang.
3. Levelling: Measure the height in at least three different places. Always use the shortest measurement to ensure a clean, floor-clearing finish.
   
   
    

1. Determine the mounting point

  Custom sets allow you to control the ‘visual height’ of your room. 

• Ceiling mount (top fit): The track is fixed to the ceiling. This is the gold standard for S-fold curtains, creating a seamless floor-to-ceiling look.
• Wall mount (face fit): The track or rod is fixed to the wall above the window. We recommend mounting at least 150mm above the frame to minimise light leakage.
   

 
 

2. Measure the total width

Measure the area you want the track to cover, not just the glass.

1. Measure the window width. Include the architraves (frame).
2. Add ‘stacking’ room. To ensure you can see the full window when the curtains are open, add 150mm to each side.
3. Total width. This is the final length of the track we will custom-cut for you.

Pro Tip: For a ‘wall-to-wall’ look, measure the full distance between walls and subtract 10mm for a smooth installation.


 

3. Measure the ‘drop’ (height)

The ‘drop’ is the vertical measurement from the hardware to the floor. Measure from the top of where the track will be installed down to the floor. Our custom manufacturing accounts for the internal hook placement to ensure the fabric covers the track or sits just below it as intended.

Once you have your floor-to-top measurement, choose your ‘break’:

• Hover: Subtract 15mm (easy to vacuum, very clean look)
• Touch: No adjustment (fabric just touches the floor)
• Puddle: Add 50mm-100mm (formal, luxurious look)

 
 

4. Check for ‘clearance’ (depth)

  Failing to account for depth is the most common mistake made in custom orders. Curtains need room to breathe. To ensure your curtains hang correctly and move freely, you must check the available space (depth) where the track will be mounted. 

• For S-fold curtains: These require a projection area. Ensure there is at least 80mm-100mm of clear depth from the wall or window for the folds to sit without being crushed.
• For double tracks: If you are ordering a sheer + blockout set, you will need approximately 200mm of depth to accommodate both layers of fabric.
