T&W member Meagan O'Keefe (above right) travelled to Sydney from her home in Brisbane to attend Megan Morton's Masterclass on The Science of Styling, after winning the class as a prize on our blog. After seeing the props set up for the class (above left) on Megan Morton's Facebook page I was dying to hear how it went - read on for Meagan's account of the day.
I was so thrilled about winning the Temple & Webster prize of a masterclass with Megan Morton at The School - even my colleagues got an earful of excitement. And while my enthusiasms for learning about styling just confused my workmates and worried my boss, my girlfriends definitely all got it. "Write down every word Megan says," counselled one.
The full day Science of Styling class held at The School was every bit as inspiring as expected. Contrary to my boss's suspicions, I'm definitely not looking to quit my day job to become a professional stylist. Still, I loved learning the tricks of the styling trade and listening to Megan share the back stories of some of the iconic images in her portfolio. The tricky questions of my classmates at the end of the day and considered responses from Megan were also a highlight. Among other things, I learned that styling requires a good dose of patience. That the essence of good styling is in its response to the subject. And that the reason why bedding looks so much better in magazines than real life is because there's actually three doonas in those covers.
Temple & Webster and Megan Morton – thank you!
Meagan, the T&W team is so glad you enjoyed the Masterclass. We suspect it might be a little warm in Queensland for the triple doona trick, but we hope you're inspired to create some amazing spaces in your home.
