Intern challenge: Bedroom bliss

Here at Temple & Webster, we are always on the hunt for up and comers, and through our styling internship program, we're lucky to find some very talented students! We challenged three of our recent interns to create a beautiful bedroom using our Bed by T&W range of bed linen, giving them free reign to create a look that reflected their personal style. Read on to see each intern's inspiration, design process and resulting rooms!

Dianne - Tuscan country

Describe your look in one sentence... Moving away from my usual retro look, I decided to go with a modern twist on a rustic Mediterranean feel.

In the scene... To give a cosy look I used two quilts with the Bed by Temple & Webster navy stripe pure linen quilt cover set. I added a rattan bedside table and textured rug to achieve a rustic look.

My process and inspiration for this shoot was... I found a recycled window shutter which inspired me to go with a Tuscan look. I painted the shutter and used it as a bedhead before completing the space by creating a textured wall to complement the soft, simple bedding.

One thing you'll always find on my bedside table... A book.

Top tip for a photoshoot worthy bed... Add layers through extra cushions, a luxurious doona and throws. It will make your bed look and feel so much more comfortable and inviting.

Drew - Airy urban retreat

Describe your look in one sentence... A clean, cool look with both modern and traditional finishes.

In the scene... On the bed, I used a Bed by Temple & Webster indigo frayed edge quilt cover set alongside light grey pillowcases from the same range. On the floor is a traditional-style rug in bright, modern colours, showcased by the floating bed I created. Simple white side tables are used either side of the bed to contrast against the blue wall and the styling elements I chose for each table help link the bold colours together. The oversized monstera leaf adds a vibrant natural element to the room

My process and inspiration for this shoot was... After a trip to New York, I was inspired to have a bit of fun with creating a bright cool space that gives you some reprieve from city life - a space free of clutter.

One thing you'll always find on my bedside table... a piece of statement glassware - and greenery is a must!

Top tip for a photoshoot worthy bed...  You can't go wrong with the new season linen bedding - I love using a fitted sheet, flat sheet and doona cover in one colour for a relaxed minimal feel.

Elana - Softly sophisticated

Describe your look in one sentence... Stepping away from my usual styling, I was inspired to create a more sophisticated, refined look, complete with tasteful colours and elegant, chic finishes.

In the scene... I used a Bentwood dining chair next to the bed - never underestimate a chair as a bedside table! The geometric print adds some subtle sophistication and the pattern in the flatweave rug helps break up the space and adds much-needed visual texture.

My process and inspiration for this shoot was... I wanted to create a scene that looked effortlessly elegant, inspired by the chic bedrooms of Vogue Living but with my own personal touch. The loosely made bed combined with soft greys and pastel pinks gives an uncomplicated feel with a moody wall colour and white panelling completing the look.

One thing you'll always find on my bedside table... a scented candle.

Top tip for a photoshoot worthy bed...  Beds are made for sleeping in so make them look comfortable! You can easily do this by adding some texture to your bedding or through cushions and throws. It can instantly change the look of a room.
