Maximising your style and comfort with a wingback armchair

Material and upholstery options for new wingback armchairs

Your choice of upholstery can completely change the feel of your wingback armchair. For a luxurious and refined look, velvet is a popular pick as it adds softness and depth to any room. Linen and cotton blends are perfect for coastal, Hamptons or country-style homes thanks to their light, breathable texture. For those who prefer something that’s easier to maintain, faux leather and performance fabrics offer durability without compromising on style. You’ll also find wingback chairs with timber or tapered metal legs, making it easier to tie in with other finishes around your space. Wingback armchairs for your existing decor and rooms

The beauty of wingback chairs lies in their versatility. In a traditional setting, they blend beautifully with dark timbers and classic decor. In more modern spaces, a wingback in a bold colour or contemporary fabric makes a striking focal point. In the bedroom, a wingback armchair offers the perfect spot for morning coffee or quiet time, while in the living room it adds depth and dimension to your layout. Pair it with a floor lamp and side table to create a cosy reading nook, or coordinate it with a swivel chair or recliner for a functional yet inviting lounge setup. If you’re after a more compact silhouette, tub chairs are also a great option to complement a wingback design.

Caring for your wingback armchair for long term comfort

Keeping your wingback armchair looking its best is all about a little regular maintenance. For fabric upholstery, vacuuming with a soft brush attachment helps remove dust and keep the surface fresh. Spot clean any spills promptly with a mild cleaner, following the manufacturer’s care instructions. For velvet or boucle styles, a fabric brush can help maintain the pile and softness. Timber or metal legs can be wiped down with a soft, damp cloth. To prevent fading, avoid placing your chair in direct sunlight for extended periods. With proper care, your wingback chair will remain a comfortable and stylish part of your home through the years.
