Sofas

Most sofa searches start with a colour swatch and only later run into the real constraints (doorway width, lift access, how many people actually sit down at once), which is why the 400+ sofas in our range are worth sorting by seat count and frame before fabric, since you're really choosing how a room gets used for the next decade, not just picking a shade, so measure your space and start filtering from there.

Sofa seat counts and shapes

Our sofas run from compact 2 to 2.5 seaters through to 4 and 5 seater configurations, many with a chaise built into one end. A chaise adds lounging length without adding a second sofa, which matters in rooms where floor space is tight but you still want somewhere to stretch out. Sofa and armchair sets, and sofa and ottoman sets, also appear across our range for anyone furnishing a living room in one purchase rather than piece by piece. Whichever shape you land on, check the chaise side (left or right) against your room layout before you buy, or choose one with a reversible chaise.

If you need a single extra seat rather than a full sofa, our armchairs range covers the same styles at a smaller footprint.

Sofa fabric and upholstery types available

Fabric upholstery, including corduroy, boucle and velvet, makes up a large share of our range, alongside faux leather options for anyone wanting an easier-clean surface. Corduroy and boucle both read as textured, warmer options that suit a living room built around comfort. Slipcover styles are also part of our range, which means the cover comes off for washing, saving you from having to professionally clean the whole piece. That's a genuinely practical distinction if you have kids, pets or just want to keep the sofa looking fresher for longer.

Pair your sofa with a coffee table sized to the same room before you finalise either piece.

Planning for a new sofa delivery

Most sofas in our range run between 140cm and 188cm long, with larger corner and chaise designs stretching further depending on configuration. A sofa that reads as a straightforward fit in a photo can still be the wrong shape for a narrow hallway or a tight stairwell, so measuring your doorway width and the corners it has to turn before ordering matters more than picking the final colour. Corner and chaise designs, plus larger 4 and 5 seater configurations, are the ones most likely to need a different entrance than the one leading straight into the living room, particularly with lift or stair access involved.

Brown, grey, beige and green all turn up regularly across the fabric and leather options in our range, so colour rarely narrows the shortlist as much as fit does. Once a sofa clears the doorway and sits comfortably in the room, colour becomes the easiest part of the decision to make last, and the one most easily changed again with a throw or new cushions if it doesn't quite work.

Once your sofa's chosen, our side and end tables range fills in the gaps either side of it.

Frequently asked questions

How many sofas does Temple & Webster stock?

We carry 400+ sofas with multiple variations available across different styles. That range spans faux leather two seaters through to large upholstered corner and chaise designs.

How much space does a 3 seater sofa need?

Most sofas in our range are between 140cm and 188cm long, with larger corner and chaise designs extending further depending on configuration. Measure your wall length and doorway width before ordering, since a larger sofa may need to come in through a different entrance.

What's the difference between a sofa with a chaise and a modular sofa?

A chaise sofa is one fixed piece with a longer seat built into one end. A modular sofa is made of separate sections you can rearrange or add to over time; see the modular sofas range for those.

Can I get a matching armchair with my sofa?

Yes, several sofas in our range come as part of a sofa and armchair set, sold together as a matching pair rather than as separate purchases.

Are sofa covers washable?

Slipcover sofas in our range have a removable cover you can wash separately. Fixed upholstery sofas generally need spot cleaning or professional cleaning instead.
