Warm like a summer breeze, this contemporary look combines raw timber, a punch of colour, organic elements and a whole lot of laidback Australian style. Senior stylist Jono Fleming breaks down this fresh living space. Want to work it yourself? Shop the New Natural collection here.
Tree change
Don't get too worked up about whether or not all your timbers are exactly the same colours, work in tones. Here we've chosen similar light timbers mixed together, which give the space a cohesive, complementary look without everything being too matchy-matchy. We've combined the Ash Coco Dining table with Raelvn Dining chairs and mushroom stools (which have beautiful natural colour variation).
Heat wave
Getting that summery, beach house look doesn't mean your entire house has to be coastal blue tones. Have fun with on-trend colours like burnt orange and terracotta and be bold to get that holiday vibe. We've paired Gabriel Reversible cushions and layered Jute and Stripe Flat Weave rugs with neutral cream, white and grey accents.
New leaf
On the other end of the spectrum, the complementary colour that goes with the warm oranges is green! Greenery isn't the Pantone 2017 Colour of the Year for nothing. Bring it in through nature with a large statement plant. Low-maintenance indoor plants have been such a strong trend this year which just keeps on growing. Lush foliage and tropical flowers in the Jungle Bird artwork also tie in this element. The natural green also breaks up the stronger timbers and bolder colours.
Go organic
To soften the look, add some handmade and natural elements through decor and styling. Natural glazed ceramics and glassware like these Goblets add a handmade, artisan element to the space, giving it a story and personality. Salt lamps and natural crystals are also a great way to add an organic object with a bit of quirkiness.
