Very Peri is Pantone’s Colour Of The Year for 2022

International colour authority Pantone has crowned its 2022 Colour of the Year, and it goes by the name, Very Peri. If the trending shade doesn't ring a bell, you're not alone. The brand new hue is the first colour Pantone has ever created specially for the Colour of the Year honour—and like its famous predecessors, Very Peri is set to take the interior, design and fashion worlds by storm.

What is Very Peri?

According to Pantone, Very Peri is "a dynamic periwinkle blue hue with a vivifying violet-red undertone that blends the faithfulness and constancy of blue with the energy and excitement of red." Think of Very Peri as the colour equivalent of the calm, safe feeling of the known coupled with the buzz you get from imagining what the future could hold.

Why does Very Peri represent 2022?

The newly created shade takes its cues from how our physical and digital lives have merged in light of global events that increasingly necessitated Zoom meetings, digital communities and online entertainment. But the good news is, Very Peri is an optimist, designed to represent the possibility of this transformative time in history.
