Under the covers: winter bedding trends

Something about Tanner. Image via Linen House. Soft pastels and even softer brushed cotton make Tanner a winter must-have. Image via Linen House.

Cool weather means an excuse to shop for a new winter wardrobe for your bed as well as yourself. Linen House senior textile designer Emily Tregowan shares her take on the best new-season looks.

My dream bedroom would be… Filled with plenty of natural light. A minimalist feel with a few key pieces such as a couple of smart, Scandinavian-style bedside tables, a retro lamp and an art piece that I really love to wake up to every morning. I'm all about touch, so my sheets and covers would be soft, natural linens, accessorised with a textural kilim and velvet cushions.

Personal favourites in this season's Linen House collection? It has to be Tanner (above), it just looks so inviting. I plan on spending lots of time underneath it come the winter months.

Something about teal. Image via Linen House This season's bed linen picks up on the trend for 70s-inspired jewel tones. Image via Linen House.

What's the theme behind the new winter collection? There's a real focus on the Seventies. We've created a sophisticated, balanced palette of rich jewel tones mixed with pretty pastels to keep the mood contemporary. Strong colours for this season are teal, ginger spice, bamboo yellow, stone blue and charcoal, with highlights of soft greys, cream and pastel pinks.

Something about Scandi. Image via Linen House Go monchrome with Larsen's Scandi styling, then lift the look with blush pink, one of the season's key colours. Image via Linen House.

What fashion and interiors trends have inspired these looks? Smart, sophisticated, Scandi-style geometric prints in soft eclectic palettes and simple monochromatic quilt covers in calming hues. Plus a chalet theme perfect for winter, with Navajo prints, cosy brushed cotton blanket checks and shaggy furs.

Pro tips for styling a beautiful bedroom? Mix, match and layer! Think about your bedroom the way you would your wardrobe. Everything you put in your space should reflect your personal style. Get experimental and mix plains, patterns and textures together. A touch of blush pink is a must have for this season. It's the colour that brings everything in the range together and will give your bedroom just a hint of the romantic.
