You don't need to revamp your whole living space to create a fresh look. Temple & Webster Senior Stylist Jono Fleming shares five easy, affordable ways to update your lounge room for autumn.
For this room I started with a neutral palette of grey and dusty teal, then warmed up the space for autumn with texture and timber. Starting with a neutral base means it's easier to make seasonal updates without starting from scratch.
1. Cushions
Keep with the neutral palette and add interest and warmth with knitted and textured fabrics in your cushions.
2. Rugs
Autumn is a good time to swap more summery cotton flatweaves and dhurries for something warmer underfoot such as a wool or pile rug.
3. Tables
The pale timber works well with the grey of the sofa, the glass keeps everything light, while nesting the tables at two different heights creates visual interest. I love using native flowers at home as they last for ages, even once they're dried.
4. Artwork
Finding something new for your walls is the easiest way to switch things up. Again I've stuck with the grey and white palette and chosen pattern as the way to make a visual impact – marble is still going strong.
5. Storage
These on-trend woven baskets add another natural element to the room, plus they're a great spot to store cool-weather accessories like throws to keep your space tidy.
