Trend we love: California Cool

Lush velvet furniture pieces have been top of the trend list for a while, but even we agree it's a look that can be tricky to pull off! To give you a little inspiration, our Stylist Allira put together this cool, LA-inspired space based around our dusty rose Studio velvet sofa. "Californian cool embodies coastal vibes with elements of luxe, showing that relaxed living can also be sophisticated," says Allira. "We pulled together our look by combining textural and contemporary pieces, working within a soft colour palette and adding greenery to keep the scene fresh"

Start with the Sofa

Allira started with our dusty rose Studio velvet sofa as the hero piece of the space, "Velvet is soft to the touch and catches the light beautifully, helping to make the room feel light and airy. The dusty rose shade and classic shape of our sofa also adds an element of luxe to the room."

Change up your chair 

A comfortable living room is never complete without a statement chair. We chose this arc top lounge chair in a more neutral silver colour to complement but not compete with our blush velvet sofa. Allira advises to "Break up the geometry of your furniture with bohemian-inspired textures. We contrasted this mid-century clean-lined chair with a shaggy cushion to make it feel more relaxed."

Roll out a rug

Allira went with a neutral Flish wool rug to add texture and softness underfoot. "Adding a plush rug makes the space feel luxurious, cosy and casual," says Allira. "Choosing a neutral colour underfoot helps other statement pieces in the room really stand out."

Turn the tables

To reinforce the LA vibe, Allira went all out and added this reflective gold coffee table to really amp up the glam factor. "Metallic pieces catch your attention as you enter a room and I love the combination of sculptural and textural decor with the gold finish of the coffee table for a sense of refined earthiness," says Allira.

Add art

A palm print over the sofa echoes the relaxed, coastal feel Allira has added to this room, "Photographic art directs the look and ties in the fresh pop of greenery to connect the room with nature," Allira continues. "Choosing a white frame means it doesn't distract from the soft colours within the artwork."
