The low slung

Low effort and perfectly casual, the low slung gives off that beautiful-without-trying look, and it’s so easy to do.

1. Sling the throw over the arm of the sofa.
2. Trail it along the seat, allowing it to fall towards the floor.

 

The nice and neat

If your style is more neat and orderly, this is the placement for you. The nice and neat makes your throws part of the decor and adds visual interest to your living room. This style also works well on a pair of matching armchairs.

1. Fold two matching throws lengthways and place them evenly apart on each side of the sofa.
2. Top the throw with upright coordinated cushions to add dimension.

 

The diagonal drape

Similar to the low slung but a bit more intentional, the diagonal drape is the smart casual style for a throw. 

1. Drape the throw over the back of the sofa and down onto the seat.
2. Diagonally fan out the throw towards the front of the seat.

 

The over arm

Perfect for if you want your blanket within arm’s reach but you don’t want it stealing the show, the over arm is stylish and convenient for those cooler nights. 

1. Neatly fold the throw lengthways. If it’s particularly long, you may also want to fold it in half as well.
2. Hang it neatly over the arm of your sofa or an armchair. You can either have it hanging symmetrically or so that it hangs lower on the outside of the arm, depending on how your sofa or armchair allows.

This style makes your throw rug or blanket the star of the show, creating depth and character to your sofa. The full coverage styling is bold and eye-catching, so if you have a particularly interesting throw this is the style for you.

1. Fold the throw in half lengthways.
2. Spread it out over the seat, tucking it into the seam between the seat and back sofa cushions.
3. If your throw has tassels or a trim, show this off to the front of the seat cushion, allowing them to drape over towards the floor.

Extra tip: This style also looks great along the back of the sofa if your sofa isn’t backed up against a wall.
