Spring is the opportunity to do more than just pretty flowers on your windowsill. I like to change a room around - there are generally two options for your bedroom and it's amazing what a difference changing a room's format can do. In the dining room, play opposite day and turn it around. And then, once you feel the new found energy, turn the lounge around too.

Tracie Ellis - Creative Director at Aura by Tracie Ellis - advises on brights in the bedroom...
With Spring approaching we are all hoping for some warm weather (especially me) a time to open up our doors into the garden and let the sun shine in. Dust off the layers of coverlets and pillows and welcome new colour and light layers into the bedroom. With the introduction of a gorgeous bright Spring palette just around the corner, it's not going to be hard to update your room. Add in lovely pure cotton and linen and hints of neons as this seasons fashion statement along with bold fresh cushions, throws and must have indoor greenery. New Spring colours include; neon corals, bright yellows, stunning marine, emerald greens and must have mint!

Doctor Lisa Cooper - florist and artist - advises on seasonal beauty...
Each of the seasons is, of course, marked by the emergence of particular blooms. Perhaps because it follows the winter and heralds the summer, spring is the stuff of lore of poetry and paint. Spring unlike the other seasons seems to erupt – vast fields become blankets of colour – flower shops (and studios) heave.

It is the time of the year when florists can answer 'yes' to the year round question: Do you have peonies? The first flush of the roses are the best that you will see all year, the rhododendrons draw out the homebodies to far away gardens to awe. The blossom will make you mad with delight, there are lupin, macrocarpa, tulips, gladioli, poppies, ranunculas, sweet pea, hyacinth, iris, blushing brides, flannel flowers, wattle, jonquils, calendula, local carnations, delphinium, forget- me-nots. It is glorious madness!

No matter your flower budget, spring is definitely the time to buy for the love of flowers and not for the duration of their life as cut elements. In October a bunch of lily-of-the-valley that will sit in a vase for mere days, may sustain the soul for years.

The best money you will ever spend on flowers is the money you spend on flowers you absolutely love.
