It's said that Instagram makes photographers of all of us, but at the same time it makes us appreciate the art even more. Following on from our post about Australian artists to follow on Instagram, Karen McCartney checks her feed, and finds a few must-follow photographers to admire and inspire. Kara Rosenlund is a much-loved Brisbane-based photographer with a beautiful sensibility. For her it all starts at home, as this image of her kitchen shows. Kara has been travelling around Australia shooting for her new book ‘Shelter’ (out soon – watch this space) and the things gathered along the way have ended up in her kitchen. As she says it will bring miminalists out in ‘red scratchy rashes’. Follow her @kararosenlund. 63,000 followers.
Luisa Brimble is queen of the shared table with photographs of food that illustrate a group, large or small, enjoying the community of eating together. She also captures evocative shots of produce at source, bundles of utensils and higgledy piggledy crockery stacks. Follow her @luisabrimble. 51,500 followers
Stephanie Somebody is an interesting cocktail of stylist/collector/creative director and image maker – the word ‘photographer’ doesn’t even come into it. And her feed reflects her preoccupation with seeing beauty in all sorts of places. Her travels to Japan showcase her ability to crystallise a meaningful moment, her sense of light and landscape, and styling that looks like the haphazard capture of a beautiful life, all contribute a serenity to her images. Follow her @stephanie_somebody. 154,000 followers
Photographer Felix Forest shoots regularly for all the key interiors magazines including Vogue Living, Belle and Country Style – as well as working on his own creative projects – such as a recent show which featured the eerie beauty of the decayed Chernobyl site (more beautiful than it sounds). A Frenchman living in Sydney he travels back to his homeland to shoot interiors and, as you can see, horses in the Camargue. Follow him @felix_forest. 7000 followers.
