Temple & Webster stylist Sarah Cousens has just moved into her new apartment on Sydney's northern beaches. Here's how she'll warm up her coastal home for winter. 

Settling into our new home in Sydney’s Manly during winter is an interesting time to have moved so close to the ocean. What is normally a really busy place for most months of the year becomes a bit of a ghost town when winter hits, but it has a really peaceful atmosphere. I love going for walks and feeling like you're the only person on the beach, the sea breeze can chill you to the bone but the crispness gives you a whole other sense of energy.



It’s the perfect kind of weather to settle in on the sofa with a big chunky throw (or my personal favourite, my doona) and watch movies all afternoon. The sound of the rain on the windows is so cocooning, paired with pyjamas, cups of tea and warming winter snacks…absolute perfection. Having a throw on your sofa is the perfect accessory for winter. Best used to wrap yourself in, snuggle under with someone, wander round the house in and nap under. The benefits are endless! For some reason dragging the doona out onto the sofa is such a novelty for me, and there is no guilt involved whatsoever when the weather is right.
