Designed and handcrafted in Sydney, we’re proud to introduce our new range of lounges and occasional chairs, designed and handcrafted in Sydney by Noble & Jones.

While local furniture company Noble & Jones is less than a year old, founder Simon Noble brings more than three decades of experience to his latest venture. Since selling a larger furniture business in 2013, he found he missed the hands-on aspect of design and Noble & Jones was born. “I’ve never lost the feeling of anticipation and excitement at seeing an idea come to life,” he says. “So now I’ve gathered a smaller team of talented artisans, who have all worked together for 10 to 20 years.”

Now the Sydney-based manufacturer has partnered exclusively with Temple & Webster to release a new range of sofas centred around soft lines, with a mix of classic fabrics and on-trend pastel tones. The whole team is involved in the design process from the ground up, working on appealing designs then ironing out any issues at the prototype stage.

For Simon, design inspiration comes from a range of different places. “The Martin and Muscat are inspired by our friends, the Paris-based Australian fashion designer Martin Grant and his partner,” explains Simon. “He has a minimalist style and always starts with the fabric as the first stage of the design process. I found these two incredible new fabrics – one a soft brushed finish and the other a beautiful flat-weave – and did the same, with designs flowing from that.”

Alongside the rounded Muscat and classic shapes of Martin is the Marais, with narrow splayed arms and deep seating that Simon says make it ideal for apartment living. The occasional chairs – Conran and Dresser styles alongside Muscat and Marais – are designed to mix and match with the sofas.

The whole collection exemplifies the same attention to detail, with finishes such as French seams, feather fill and polished timber that speak to the overall craftsmanship. Explains Simon: “If a furniture maker gets the tailoring and finishes right, they are proud of what they do and you can be sure the unseen elements will be made the same degree of care.”

As for a favourite among the collection? “I love them all,” he says, “but I especially love people’s reaction when they sit in the Dream daybed. There's nothing better as a furniture maker than to see people excited about your work.”
