Interior design trends from Maison & Objet and Paris Design Week 2024
With more than 60,000 visitors and 1800-plus home and lifestyle brands on show, Maison & Objet is one of the most directional European design events when it comes to looking at the latest styles, so naturally, Temple & Webster Director of Insights & Trends Lucy Sutherland had to visit the Paris trade show to scout the looks of tomorrow.
This monumental event held semi-annually (in January and September) underpins Paris Design Week and is a colourful celebration of innovation and creativity. Works are beautifully exhibited in seven pavilions at the Maison et Objet fair and then across four districts of Paris, showcasing the latest furniture, decor and home accessories.
Maison’s theme this year was Terra Cosmos which spoke to the marriage between futuristic innovation and space-inspired aesthetics with earthy colours and natural materials, and this was everywhere in the selection of products, shapes and finishes across installations and exhibitor stands.
Here, Lucy shares her key takeaways from the Paris show, including how you can get the look with Temple & Webster.
Embrace cosy textures and rounded forms with our Pomaire 3 legged boucle chair
Warm natural colours of terracotta, rust and clay were paired with olive greens and warm sandy neutrals, bringing warmth and cosiness while retaining sophistication. Replicate this colour palette in your own living and dining spaces with our Forbes sofa in caramel, our Frederik dining chairs in rust, and Alma sofa in olive green.
Boucle was still strong, as well as corduroy, tweeds and wool providing the ultimate pared-down comfort. Bring this tactile texture to your home with our range of boucle furniture and decor. Also, appreciate the softness of chenille and teddy material with our Trilby armchair, Clover ottoman and cosy Millie sofa.
Our Palatine coffee and side table set in deep red is a great way to inject a seventies edge to your space.
Lucy observed how texture and pattern added to the playful nature of this trend, with fun brutalist shapes in futuristic pieces such as side tables and coffee tables in accent colours like sky blue. Inject baby blue hues with our Lola side table and Fleur velvet ottoman.
To finish off this seventies look, fringed cushions and textured fabrics were used as decor. Shop our textured cushions to complete your seventies revival.
Mushroom shapes also continued to emerge, especially in lighting. We're bringing this trend to life with our Piper paper pulp lamp and Airlie steel lamp.

Earthy cocoons
All over Maison, Lucy observed how cocooning spaces were made extra inviting with layered textures and earthy neutrals. Tactile fabrics and round enveloping shapes were said to be prominent resulting in interiors that felt totally conducive to relaxation. The love for swivel chairs were also still present providing a multifunctional option in these sumptuous living areas.
