Our stylists are forever putting a fresh spin on familiar subject matter. Stylist Adam Powell has already created a coastal-inspired wreath and a classic version for Christmas. Here's his final alternative, a clever and colourful version that will last for a while. It doesn't have to be Christmas specific, but it's definitely fun and festive. Here's how to create it at home...
The Materials
Essentials: a wreath frame (Spotlight have them) and a glue gun.
Heroes: Colour pulls the whole look together. Adam chose a palette of purple and peach, and then picked different variations within each of those shades for depth and interest. He used 6 different colours in total.
Fillers: recycle old toys, redundant decorations and anything you have hanging around the home.
The Concept
Put excess clutter to good use with a unique wreath. Let’s buck trends and tradition.
The Key
Use a mixture of sizes, shapes and textures. Evenly space out the larger items and then fill in the gaps with medium pieces, and eventually smaller ones, all with your trusty glue gun. Spray items on one side, allow to dry, and then turn over to spray the other side.
The Alternative
Pick a theme for the objects, or customise the colour palette to suit the scheme you’re using throughout your home.
The ta-da moment
Pick a colour scheme that really pops against your front door colour, for maximum impact.
