How We're Supporting Mental Health Through Design

At Temple & Webster, we believe in the power of good design to support wellbeing — not just in our homes, but in the spaces where care and connection happen. Since partnering with Black Dog Institute in 2022, we’ve proudly supported their mission to improve mental health outcomes for all Australians by donating our products, interior design, and styling services.

Together, we’ve helped transform seven treatment rooms across Sydney, including spaces at St Vincent’s Hospital and the Institute’s own headquarters, into environments that feel warm, safe, and supportive.

The most recent project saw a team of Temple & Webster volunteers install two additional treatment rooms, each furnished with a thoughtfully curated selection of furniture and décor. Focused on a soft, neutral, and nature-inspired colour palette with inviting textures, the spaces were designed to create a sense of ease and make therapy more comfortable for both staff and patients.

“Partnering with Temple & Webster to refresh our clinical therapy rooms has been a truly transformative experience,” says Catherine Moloney, Clinical Services Manager. “The spaces, once functional but uninspired, have been thoughtfully redesigned into warm, inviting environments that now feel safe, calming, and supportive — exactly what our staff and patients need for meaningful therapeutic work.”

Beyond these physical spaces, the partnership also gives us access to Black Dog Institute’s resources, training, and insights, helping us continue to prioritise the mental health and wellbeing of our own team at Temple & Webster.

Speaking to the ongoing collaboration, Catherine Moloney explains, “We chose to work with Temple & Webster because they understood our vision from the start — creating therapeutic spaces that feel warm, safe, and professional. Their range, design expertise, and collaborative approach made them the ideal partner to bring our clinical spaces to life in a way that supports both mental health professionals and the people they care for.”
