Geography 101

Are you lucky enough to be planning an overseas trip? If so, you definitely need a Moleskine city notebook from our Telegram Paper Goods feature today. Ditch the brightly coloured guidebook and carry a chic black pocket-sized book which includes maps, train maps and plenty of room for your own notes and travel finds.

For the rest of us, girt by sea for the time being, the Giant Australia Wall Map is pretty amazing. The wooden poles at the top and bottom put us in mind of an old school map; great for adding a nice vintage vibe to a study or retro-style interior. We went to Apartment Therapy for inspiration.

Another great spot for a map like this is a kids' room. It's a great feature for a room at almost 1.5 metres wide and just over a metre tall, and the colours are fairly neutral so it won't be overpowering. Don't forget its educational value too - at the very least, you can plan a holiday with it!  At almost $150 off its usual price, we think it's a great way to create impact without a huge outlay.
