Bath mixers and spouts are often mounted at 700mm high, but this will depend on the height of your bathtub. We recommend working with your plumber to ensure the correct tap placement.
You may need two floor wastes: one inside the shower and another near the bath, toilet, or basin. For standard square or circular floor wastes, use tiles no larger than 300x300mm to ensure proper drainage.

Bathroom Layout Tips
Your layout depends on the room’s dimensions and the location of doors and windows. In a square-shaped bathroom, the space can be divided into quarters for the shower, toilet, and vanity, with the doorway in the fourth zone. Each element needs roughly 900mm in width. If possible, avoid placing the toilet directly in front of the door. The minimum floor-to-ceiling height for bathrooms is 2.1 metres.Read: How to plan the perfect bathroom layout
Vanity Height Guide
When it comes to bathroom vanitires, the height from floor to basin lip typically ranges from 850 to 950mm, with 900mm being the standard recommendation to suit most people's reach.Shaving Cabinet Placement
For optimum visibility, place the centre of the mirror at 1500mm from floor level. Your mirror or shaving cabinet should be the same width as, or shorter than, your vanity to accommodate wall lighting.Best Practices for Bathroom Fixtures
As a general guide, wall-mounted mixers should be a minimum of 1050mm from the floor, with the spout centred over the basin. Shower taps and mixers are generally positioned between 900-1050mm, with shower heads around 2100mm from the floor, aligned with the water inlet.Bath mixers and spouts are often mounted at 700mm high, but this will depend on the height of your bathtub. Shower Dimensions
Shower screens must be at least 900x900mm, or 760x1300mm if installed over a bath. Fully frameless screens should be made of 10mm-thick toughened safety glass. Consider a screen height of 2100mm to minimise water splashing out.Freestanding Bath Tips
Don't forget to leave space around your bath for cleaning! A gap of 100mm between the back of the bath and the wall will provide enough room for a broom or mop.Toilet Space Requirements:
The overall width of a toilet space should be around 900mm, with a minimum of 760mm. Limited for space? Most in-wall cisterns start at around 90mm and are designed to fit into a standard stud wall. Check with your tradesperson to ensure your walls are suitable. Mount toilet roll holders 200mm in front of the toilet and 660mm from the floor.Bathroom Tiling Guide
Choose bathroom tiles that are fit for purpose. Floor tiles are designed to handle weight and traffic, while wall tiles have a lower wear rating. Floor tiles can be used on walls, but wall tiles should not be used on floors. Consider using rectified-edge tiles for tighter grout lines, which are easier to clean.
