Caroline's finds - The Design Hunter

Our buyers are a little like hunter gatherers, tracking down beautiful things to bring back to T&W HQ. While visiting our friends at Dusty Miller in Sydney's Clovelly recently, Caroline came across the design hunter, a new store by renovator-turned-decorator Melissa Bonney. I got in touch with Melissa, only to discover we weren't the first – she is featured in Inside Out magazine this month. Along with a well-edited selection of furniture and homewares from local and international sources (including ceramics by Urban Cartel and art by Lisa Madigan), she and her team also offer a decorating service. Melissa gave us some of her top tips:

  • Decorating doesn't have to be expensive - think about a fresh coat of paint or new cushions to change the mood

  • DIY projects can be very rewarding - even council pick ups can yield fabulous pieces which just need a little bit of love!

  • Don't try to match everything or stick rigidly to a particular 'style'. Keep your large pieces (like your sofa) classic and neutral and then add things you love, whatever their 'style'.

Have a lovely weekend,
Victoria
