Comedian and lover of modernist style Rosso shares his idea of the perfect Christmas. Read on for details of his live show Man About the House, sold out in Sydney and Melbourne but scheduled for one night only in the Glen Murcutt-designed Boyd Education Centre on the Shoalhaven River.
My Christmas style is unashamedly old fashioned, but I rarely get to contribute much in the Xmas decoration stakes because my wife loves it so much. I'm relegated to the "branch collector" because Michelle always wants one to make a new tree every year. I'd happily have a tacky plastic one but I do prefer her creations. We both go in for as many large serving plates on the table as possible. I cannot come at buffet style eating on the big day. It's too Sizzler for me.
This year I will be buying books as gifts because giving someone a book that you loved is the greatest gift of all (apart from a Whitney Houston record).
My failsafe Christmas styling tip is always use something that you use every year. Christmas is about tradition and I get very nostalgic about old bowls, glasses or plates that I grew up with. Trends mean nothing without something that has meaning.
On Christmas day I keep my sanity by always cooking. I don't know what to do with myself on Christmas if I'm not in the kitchen. My favourite thing in the world is to cook with Mum on the day. She taught me how to cook as a teenager and it's been one of our great bonding pastimes.
All I want for Christmas is my family to be healthy and happy because it's all that matters.
This Christmas I will be serving pork and chicken. I can't be bothered with turkey, I'll leave that to the pilgrims.
My biggest Christmas faux pas was when I made vegetarian gravy for my wife and then let my father-in-law try it by putting a piece of crackling in it while my wife was watching!

Book now to see Rosso's acclaimed live show Man About the House on Saturday 16th November in the beautiful setting of the Glen Murcutt-designed Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Centre at the Bundanon Trust's Riversdale property on the NSW south coast. The show weaves together his love of design with fantastical tales of suburban youth, new fatherhood and road trips with Vanilla Ice, and includes musical accompaniment by Kit Warhurst. Accommodation is available at the venue.
