The Azeza Possum Collection

Azeza Possum Ramzam is a third-generation painter from a renowned Indigenous Australian artist family. She is the daughter of Michelle Possum Nungurrayi and Heath Ramzan Tjangala. Azeza learnt to paint by observing and assisting her mother Michelle. This family connection has meant that the tradition of telling stories of the indigenous culture and history is alive and well in Azeza’s artworks. Azeza’s art differs from that of her mother and grandfather in that she also includes paintings depicting indigenous women’s ceremonial stories and dreaming, and the colours she chooses to use are stronger and bolder.
