Oversized Christmas Trees

Got a foyer or double-height space where a standard tree would look lost? Our oversized Christmas trees start at 2.4 metres, built for exactly the kind of space most "large" trees weren't scaled for. Go bigger.

Oversized Christmas tree heights for double-height foyers and atriums

An oversized Christmas tree, generally 2.4 metres and taller, suits double-height foyers, atriums or open-plan spaces where a standard large tree would still look undersized. Check your ceiling height carefully before buying at this scale, since a topper and stand together can add a further 40 to 50cm on top of the tree's stated measurement. These trees are built for spaces where the tree itself is meant to be the main focal point of the room, rather than one element among several. Floor space matters just as much as height here, since an oversized tree also needs a wider base footprint to stay stable at that scale.

Compare oversized trees against our large Christmas trees range if you're unsure which scale suits your space.

Decoration quantities needed for an oversized Christmas tree

Budget for more decorations than a standard tree, since an oversized tree's branch surface is easy to underestimate until it's fully dressed. Work from the trunk outward and layer in garland or ribbon before adding baubles, since that helps avoid gaps that individual ornaments alone can leave on a tree this size. Larger ornaments generally read better toward the base and middle of the tree, with smaller pieces reserved for the upper, thinner branches. Buying decorations in bulk sets built for larger trees, rather than several smaller packs, is usually the more practical way to reach full coverage.

Add Christmas tree decorations in bulk sets to fully dress an oversized tree. And, browse our pre-lit Christmas trees if you'd rather skip adding lights to an oversized tree yourself.

Frequently asked questions

How many decorations does an oversized Christmas tree need?

An oversized tree from 2.4 metres upward generally needs 150 to 200 decorations for full coverage. Trees taller than 3 metres may need more again.

Does an oversized Christmas tree fit through a standard doorway when packed?

Most oversized trees pack into multiple boxes designed to fit through a standard doorway individually. Check the packed box dimensions first if your entry point is narrower than average, such as an apartment corridor.

Does an oversized Christmas tree need a stronger stand than a standard tree?

Yes, oversized trees need a wider, weighted stand built to support the extra branch weight at this scale. Avoid substituting a stand from a smaller tree, since it won't provide enough stability.

Does Temple & Webster deliver oversized Christmas trees assembled?

No, oversized trees require assembly at home, the same as other artificial tree sizes. This keeps the packaging manageable for standard courier delivery despite the tree's overall size.

Can an oversized Christmas tree be displayed outdoors?

Oversized trees made for indoor use aren't generally rated for outdoor weather exposure. A covered atrium or entryway is the exception, provided it's shielded from direct rain and sun.
