The best mattress comes down to your sleep position and weight. Side sleepers usually want medium-soft for shoulder and hip pressure relief; back and stomach sleepers do better on medium-firm to firm for spinal alignment.

Memory foam contours closely and isolates motion well; pocket springs feel bouncier and sleeps cooler; hybrids combine both. Heavier sleepers will benefit from firmer, reinforced support from hybrid mattresses. Shop our full range of mattresses online and pair with a matching single mattress for your kid’s room.

Sizing and bed frame fit for a new mattress

Measure the inside dimensions of your bed frame before you buy; standard Australian sizes are single, king single, double, queen and king. A queen suits most adults, especially couples, with room to spread out.

If you're updating the whole bedroom, browse our rattan bedheads and rattan bedside tables for a relaxed and cohesive natural look.

Caring for your mattress

Rotate the mattress every three to six months to even out wear, and use a protector from day one to extend the lifespan. Most mattresses last seven to ten years before they noticeably soften.

If you have pets that like to share the bed, try tempting them away with our removable-cover pet beds to give them their own spot and save the mattress from extra wear or stains.

Frequently asked questions

How firm should my mattress be?

Side sleepers usually prefer medium to medium-soft; back sleepers medium-firm; stomach sleepers firm. Heavier sleepers generally need a firmer mattress to maintain support.

How long does a mattress last?

Quality mattresses last seven to ten years. Foam tends to soften gradually; pocket spring can develop sag at heavier-use spots.

What's the difference between memory foam and pocket spring?

Memory foam moulds closely to your body for deep pressure relief, while pocket springs offer a bouncier, cooler feel. Both excel at reducing motion transfer, making either choice great for couples.

Do I need a mattress topper?

A topper can soften a too-firm mattress or add a layer of comfort to an older one. If your mattress is sagging structurally, a topper won't fix it. Mattress toppers are ideal for adding an extra layer of protection and plushness.
