The Prop Shoppers

Join us for the next edition of The Prop Shoppers, in which we find out whether Jessica will find the perfect spoon and what Adam does with his flugelhorn.

Jess: Andrea & Joens' cool new denim bed linen range called for a unique bedroom scene. This side table from Sky Parlour in Randwick is a beautifully surprising combination of timber, crochet and colour. The orange and blues in the crochet detail paired nicely with the blue denim bedding and my trippy op shop artwork continued the colour theme and quirk. Happy stylist.

Jess: Any Sydney food stylist stuck on finding the perfect spoon or napkin knows that a quick whip around Major & Tom in St Peters will yield the goods. Each time I go, I make sure I have a clear shopping list - there is so much amazingness in there it is easy to get distracted. I needed delicate utensils and a printed napkin that complimented the Burleigh Blue Calico pottery range we were shooting. Again, I wanted to contrast blue and orange, so this napery was perfect.

Adam: I decided that the Tribe Home rug sale event needed a bit of pomp and ceremony so I pulled out my trusty old flugelhorn. I stumbled across this when I was up in Newcastle visiting my family. Most times I visit I will head into the foreshore to the Centenary Antique Centre and wander around with my beautiful Mum. The American flag cushions are from I Like Birds in Paddington.

Adam: How can you not be obsessed with Little Dandelion's unique, textural and cosy blankets.  I called in a favour to borrow one when putting together my textural bed in our next 'How To' video on bedding. Jacqui Fink is a master of her craft, hand knitting each unique piece with giant needles and 100% merino wool. From the moment I pulled this beauty out of the bag I fell in love. I have been lucky enough to be wrapped up in one of her scarves on a cold winter's day and believe me; they are as cosy as they look.

Jess: Our styling process starts when the buyers show us images of the product we are to style a shot for. My first reaction to this industrial furniture was 'Whoah, look at that awesome finish on the timber'. And as I sat and sketched out some ideas, I realised the broken, discarded skateboard I had found on the street a few months back, was the perfect match in patina. I continued on the sporty concept by adding the bike wheel, which was also a side of the road find... one man's trash can be a stylist's treasure!
