Temple & Webster Wins Prestigious 2026 Australian Good Design Award
We are proud to announce that Temple & Webster has been honoured with an Australian Good Design Award for our Pro 5-Zone Mattress with Removable Topper, designed specifically for our Trade & Commercial division.

As Australia’s longest-running international design awards, the Australian Good Design Awards recognise design excellence from across the globe across 13 disciplines and more than 30 categories. Evaluated by an independent jury of over 100 design experts, the awards evaluate projects across three core criteria: Good Design, Design Innovation and Design Impact. Under this year’s theme, “Design that Leads,” the recognition highlights design that navigates complexity, drives innovation and creates meaningful change for people and the planet.
Chief Experience Officer and Co-Founder Adam McWhinney, Director of Insights & Trends Lucy Sutherland, Head of Buying Vanessa Ross, and Industrial Design Lead Chiara Lodovici accepted the award on behalf of Temple & Webster at the ceremony, joining over 1,000 industry leaders across design, architecture and business.
To maintain strict sanitary standards, commercial operators have traditionally been forced to discard entire mattresses prematurely. Our team designed a modular solution that decouples the high-wear sanitary face from the structural base. Featuring an innovative zip-off topper, property managers can easily refresh or sanitise the sleep surface without replacing the underlying core, significantly reducing landfill waste while lowering long-term operational costs.

“This mattress grew directly out of feedback from our short-term accommodation clients who needed a high-durability sleep solution without the cost of frequent replacements. We worked closely with our manufacturing partners on every layer, combining individually pocketed springs to minimise motion transfer with reinforced edge support to prevent sagging in high-turnover properties. Finding the balance between commercial-grade durability and accessible pricing was the real win.”

In addition to its modular sustainability, the Pro 5-Zone Mattress features anti-bacterial and mould-resistant CertiPUR-US® certified foams, ergonomic 5-zone body support, and a 'Mattress-in-a-Box' delivery format designed for rapid fitouts in high-density developments.

Designing a Smarter Solution for Hospitality
Engineered specifically for demanding commercial environments including hotels, short-term rentals and student accommodation, the Pro 5-Zone Mattress was developed to solve a long-standing industry challenge: the “hygiene-waste paradox”.To maintain strict sanitary standards, commercial operators have traditionally been forced to discard entire mattresses prematurely. Our team designed a modular solution that decouples the high-wear sanitary face from the structural base. Featuring an innovative zip-off topper, property managers can easily refresh or sanitise the sleep surface without replacing the underlying core, significantly reducing landfill waste while lowering long-term operational costs.
