One thing for Spring: Will Dangar

Will Dangar - One Thing for Spring - Temple & Webster Journal

Spring is your chance to refresh, renew and re-style. We came up with 5 ideas to get you started, and now we're bringing you more ideas from our friends in the world of style. Will Dangar is one of Australia's best known garden designers. His firm William Danger & Associates has created hundreds of beautiful green spaces, from enclosed city courtyards to huge country gardens, and he has also created the Robert Plumb range of outdoor furniture, letterboxes, pots and more. We asked this greenest of green thumbs what is the one thing to do in the garden in Spring.

"At this time of the year, we make sure all our gardens are fertilised and mulched appropriately. It's a twice yearly event (it happens again in February) and all our clients know when we've been, because the smell is pretty bad!"

"I prefer to use blood and bone, an organic fertiliser which is broken down by mico-organisms before the nutrients are released, which means it's a gentle process. We generally choose a fairly fine mulch to steer away from the chunkier 'playground bark' look. If you fertilise and mulch, then make sure you manage your water well, you'll have a beautiful garden come Summer."
