With fabulous felt wall stickers featured today, and school holidays fast approaching, our thoughts turned to kids' activities.

You may have heard that stylist Megan Morton has recently opened The School in a former cannery in Rosebery, where she and a stable of similarly creative people will give classes on styling and crafty endeavours.

If you've always wanted to learn the tricks of the trade, take one of Megan's four hour masterclasses on styling a property for sale. She did an amazing job styling her her own Lane Cove home for sale - you can see pictures and details here on The Design Files. There is also a range of shorter classes on such subjects as styling a space, using colour and mixing old and new pieces in your home, plus a roster of classes taught by others (including a screen printing class with artist Rachel Castle).

Megan is a mother herself, and alive to the difficulties of keeping kids engaged and creatively occupied. She has therefore included a few options for kids in her schedule of classes. The first two are craft classes for kids aged 8 – 12, and there's a longer school holiday workshop on making short films.

The best part of this is the "School Rule" that parents must stay on the premises while their child attends a class. Why? Because The School shares a building with the enormous new Koskela showoom and the absolutely delicious and relaxed Kitchen by Mike (more on both of these soon). A school holiday outing that's enjoyable for kids and parents? Definitely a win-win situation.
