Dark dramatic decor and rich jewel tones continue to reign, and mulberry is just another example of this trend. Named after the blackish red version of the fruit, mulberry can vary from deep purple to magenta pink. Mulberry was interestingly also the name of a Crayola crayon colour from 1958 to 2003, no doubt working its magic into many drawings.

"It hides stains and imperfections, making it a great choice for highly used decor like cushions, rugs and upholstered chairs." Here's how to work this regal colour into your spaces.

Mulberry and gold
The cooler violet version of mulberry and gold (essentially yellow) are opposite each other on the colour wheel, making them complementary colours, so this combination works effortlessly. Try pairing mulberry with gleaming chrome and bronze for a modern, luxurious and elegant look. This can be achieved easily as small scenes or 'vignettes' when styling consoles, bookcases, coffee tables and bedside tables. Mulberry is a great colour to stimulate the appetite, making it a good choice for dining areas. Why not set the scene of a romantic restaurant by laying out mulberry napkins, gold cutlery and crystal glassware (filled with mulberry-coloured red wine of course). 



Mulberry, red and pink
Mulberry, red and pink sit next to each other on the colour wheel, forming an analogous colour scheme. Mulberry, blue and red
Blue and red as a colour combination can sometimes feel too strong.
