The natural cowhides in our Hides of Distinction feature today are stunningly beautiful. Tactile and soft, they add lovely natural warmth and texture to your home. They are also naturally durable, and really easy to care for.
To maintain your beautiful cowhide rug, vacuum it regularly using the brush attachment of your vacuum, and give it a good shake outside from time to time. Brushing with a stiff brush can also help to remove dry dirt or dust particles. If you spill something on your hide, treat it similarly to carpet. Soak up any excess liquid straight away with paper towel and scrape off any solids, then spot clean the area using a damp cloth and warm soapy water. For oily stains, if further treatment is needed try a solution of water with 5% white vinegar. We've also seen eucalyptus oil recommended. Let the cowhide dry naturally, and don't leave it soaking wet for any length of time. It's best not to use chemical cleaners on cowhide, and don't dry clean or machine wash. Keep it simple, and you'll have years of enjoyment from your hide.
