What with our Meet the Boogles feature, plus back to school time, it seems like this week is all about the kids. With that in mind, we collected some ideas for decorating kids' rooms.

Kids can be tough "clients" for any decorator, particularly when it comes to colour.  We vote for sticking with a warm neutral on the walls and introducing colour via bed linen, accessories, or anything else that can easily be changed. Belinda Graham over at The Happy Home blog always has a crafty bent to her decorating.  She spray painted this chair herself to add a pop of yellow to her daughter's room.

As for the walls, stretch some fabric over canvas for a big impact at a reasonable price, as seen in this home featured on The Design Files.

If you're design-mad, there's no need to settle for cutesy furniture - it's now possible to find design classics replicated in kids' size. We couldn't resist this white Eames chair from Little Nest.

It goes without saying that storage is a key consideration. Pottery Barn Kids are the masters of preppy American style - while the colours are a bit saccharine in this room (and it's improbably neat) you've got to admire the storage system. Create something similar with the good old Expedit shelves from Ikea.

This room, the work of US stylist Kate Dixon, breaks all the rules and looks completely impractical - but so much fun!
