Biyani House: Fast-tracking Safety & Dignity
On November 24, on the eve of International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, Temple & Webster proudly stood beside Women’s Community Shelters (WCS) to celebrate a milestone that is as urgent as it is meaningful: the opening of NSW’s first modular crisis accommodation project.
Domestic and family violence remains the leading cause of homelessness for women and children. In 2025 alone, 73% of women seeking help from WCS were escaping domestic and family violence, yet one in two were turned away simply because there were not enough safe beds available. This is a heartbreaking reminder that every day truly counts.
This is why the Biyani House project matters so deeply.
Biyani House represents a transformative moment in how quickly crisis accommodation can be delivered. Funded by the NSW Government’s Core and Cluster Program, this project showcases the enormous potential of modular construction in meeting the escalating need for safe housing. Prefabricated by Modular by SHAPE in Victoria in just over 10 weeks, the units were transported to Sydney, then craned onto the Revesby property, dramatically accelerating the timeline for getting women and children into safety.
Once the modular units were installed, Temple & Webster had the privilege of turning these shells into homes. Our team styled the interiors and furnished all the new modular units, as well as the existing house, with pieces chosen to provide comfort and emotional healing. We were also supported by our incredible partners at ANC Delivers, who generously donated delivery services and staff time to help bring each space to life.
At Temple & Webster, we believe that beauty, safety and dignity should never be luxuries, especially for those experiencing crisis. Our purpose has always been to help people create spaces where they can feel grounded, restored and held, and this belief guided every decision in the styling of Biyani House.
We were excited to have the Hon. Jodie Harrison, Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, open Biyani House, our 13th project with WCS. Each of these collaborations strengthen our commitment to ensuring women and children fleeing violence are met not only with shelter, but with warmth, care and the foundations of a new beginning. At Temple & Webster, we are honoured to play a small part in creating spaces where healing can start.
