Start your week with a burst of inspiration, thanks to these 5 Australian painters who share their talent via Instagram. The light-filled painting above is by Michael Muir.
As a former winner of the Archibald Prize, Doug Moran Portrait Prize and Wynne Prizes, among many others, Guy Maestri is hardly an unknown talent. He shares his richly layered and powerful 'road kill' portraits on Instagram, along with the occasional glimpse into his plein air painting set up. Follow him @guy_maestri.
Laura Jones started as a florist, and much of her work features vibrant coloured floral arrangements, which she paints from life. We featured her Southern Highlands getaway on the T&W Journal last year, although she's now based in Sydney. Follow her @_ laura_jones_
Elizabeth Barnett is based in Melbourne, and paints eclectic, plant-filled domestic spaces and vignettes. She describes herself as an 'artist, illustrator, gardener and collector of beautiful things'. Follow her @elizabethbarnett
Rhys Lee is a man of some mystery, and his paintings will make you think. Follow him at @rhyslee_
Emma Walker's feed allows an artist's eye view of the Australian landscape, and her interpretation of it through her work. This post shows her recent painting 'Estuary', which was selected for the Salon des Refusés for the Wynne Prize. Follow her @emwalker
