Yingwati is the Tiwi word for sugarbag or wild honey. This is a Tiwi delicacy, produced by the Tree Sugarbag Bee. This is collected during Kumunupunari, the dry season. Indigenous Australians have been harvesting food from the bush for thousands of years, & sugarbag honey from native Australian bees is a popular form of bush tucker.

About the Designer
Russellina Puruntatameri
Russellina Puruntatameri is a proud Tiwi woman from the Tiwi Islands, which is 80km north of Darwin. Russellina developed her artistic skills from her family at the Munupi Arts Centre, where she grew up in Pirlangimpi. Her paintings highlight the importance of keeping the Tiwi culture strong for children so they can learn the culture, stories, dances, language and art.
