This painting is about the strength of my bloodline, the Winmara of Biripi – the strong women from the mountains. My great-grandmother, my grandmother, my mother & now mine & my children’s connection to Biripi is told in this artwork. It represents the strength of this connection we share, & our ancestors & bloodlines before me watch over & guide me.
The eggs symbolise being born from the mountain, while the dots under the mountain depict all the generations to come. Our connection to our country is infinite. We will forever belong. Wanyibulwanyibul gunyila, wanyibulwanyibul gunyi. Always was, always will be.
