The mat is advertised as an indoor/outdoor mat, but I don't think it would do very well outside if it got wet. I have used it indoors under the coffee table to help prevent the floor from being scratched by the coffee table. It is a lovely mat, but it has the tendency to curl at the edges and not lay flat. Happy with the purchase though.
