Dust weekly with a clean, slightly damp soft cloth, then wipe dry in the direction of the grain; use coasters, trivets, or placemats to protect timber from hot, cold, or wet items; blot spills immediately with a soft damp cloth; do not rub; use felt pads under lamps, ornaments, and other objects, and reposition accessories occasionally to prevent marking; do not place hot, wet, or moist items directly on timber surfaces; avoid direct sunlight, extreme humidity, and sudden environmental changes; do not place glass directly on timber surfaces; use felt pads to prevent moisture build-up, staining, or peeling; avoid silicone-based cleaners, if using a polish, test it first in an inconspicuous area; keep alcohol-based liquids (e.g., nail polish) away from timber, as stains are permanent; avoid impacts from vacuum cleaners or other heavy objects, especially on painted surfaces, as finishes may chip; timber is a natural material and will vary in grain and colour; over time, exposure to light may cause natural colour changes ("mellowing"), which are not defects; temperature and humidity changes cause timber to expand and contract, which may result in small cracks, particularly at joins. These are normal and do not affect durability; prolonged direct sunlight may cause fading, darkening, or hairline cracks in the finish; timber is susceptible to scratches, chips, and other damage; handle with care
