The inserts and all “walls” are made of cardboard. Sturdy enough but it cannot be stacked with anything else as it would fold very easily under pressure. Care instructions also specifically state that it cannot be washed (ie don’t do anything with it).

I love 95% of this product , how it looks , the fabric, the window at the top , sturdiness of the item - what lets it down are the cardboard dividers are not in a tray , so that you could lift the top rows out in one go , to get to the underneath rows , as someone who has multiple storage boxes this is a make or break for me to if I purchase a second or third .
