Lucian Oak Wood Bed

12 months later and this bed is still going strong. Head rest is very comfortable and hasn’t shown dirt or oils from my head. My cat isn’t too attracted to the upholstery but due to the boucle texture I’m not too worried when she does use her claws on it. One thing that annoys me about this bed is that it’s just a tiny bit too low to the ground for me to get under it - sometimes I need to do so in order to reach a cord or clean cat vom but it’s really hard to fit under the edge, even if I lay my body flat.

I read the reviews before purchase and I can honestly say this bed is exceptionally strong, sturdy, ultra stylish and beautifully crafted.

Wood quality was quite disappointing and I thought the headboard upholstery would be linen not synthetic.

A sturdy bed which is relatively easy to assemble with two people involved and it took about 45 minutes to do so. Be warned however that once it is assembled it is heavy and difficult to move and really not a good idea anyway, as you put strain on the joints. Having bought this to replace 2 x ensemble bases for a king bed, I find this far less versatile as moving the bed is not an easy option, whereas it was so easy beforehand. I used to just push the ensemble bases on castors around easy for cleaning and a change of scenery. The slat base on this bed has a buffer zone between the wood sides which can be dislodged easily as the ends sit on only 1 centimeter of the wood side rails, only a portion of their width. I had to put thin 1cm wood strips in to the gap each side of the bed to fill the gaps and keep the slat base in place avoiding slippage that easily happens unless you sit down on the bed in a very ladylike fashion. This bed is the kind of bed that collapses if you romp around in it. It is not safe the way the bed is made omitting the gap fillers, as when I sat on it the base, the bed base collapsed inside the bed and I hurt myself. You NEED TO PUT ADDITIONAL PIECES OF WOOD BETWEEN THE SIDES OF THE WOOD RAILING AND THE SLAT BASE FOR SAFETY. I had to make a trip to the hardware store and buy these additional pieces of wood. These absolutely necessary wood insert x 2 should have been included in the manufacturing process and packages (4 boxes). I was in love with the preferred Parisian Rattan Wood Bed, which was out of stock for ages and I gave up and ordered this one. You guessed it ! as one day later on 7th April 2025 at 12.12pm an email advised me that the bed I really wanted is back in stock at Temple & Webster. I had only ordered just 1 day prior on 6th April 2025 at 1.59 pm. I was so disappointed. Just a heads up Temple & Webster, it would be helpful if you gave a hint that the item was about to arrive in store, especially when an advice request has been lodged for a long time. All in all I'm just OK with this bed but I would have been much happier with the other bed that I gave up waiting for. Motto of the story is hang out for what you really want and never compromise. That's not to say that the bed I really want may not have the same requirement for additional pieces of gap filling wood in the sides of the bed between the slat base and side railings. 4 stars only due to the design flaw.

just be aware the fabric is closer to "Terry towlie" Towelie cloth than linen, so if you want something that looks nice you might be in for a reupholstery surprise. Nothng a trip to spotlight and a staple gun won't fix... but not great for a reasonably expensive frame.

Love my new bed. Love Temple and webster! Quality is great. Easy to assemble.
