Lilypad Shelving Unit

I got the Lilypad shelves (black) for the entrance hall in my apartment. Overall, I'm pleased with them, they are neat, tidy, and functional. Exactly what I needed for the space. Assembly was pretty easy, but I had one minor issue. The pre-cut grooves for the backboards were shallow and rough, which made putting it together a bit challenging. In the end, I decided not to use the backboards, which gives it a brighter and more open look, but the shelves have lost some structural integrity and slightly flimsier without them. Despite this, it's a good piece of furniture for the price. They're narrower and lighter than the flat-pack shelves I've found in department & furniture stores. I rate them 4 stars because of the backboards. Affordable. Space saving. Overall, winning.

Good value unit, I like that it's not too deep yet deep enough for all my books. I stacked 2 on top of each other with metal plates on each side. Very happy with the finished look.

Assembly on this is abysmal!! It was so flimsy because the inner section is connected via wooden dowels, then you have to try and balance it all together to screw the sides on. It's also about half the size I was expecting it to be, and not very deep in the cubes themselves. It looks lovely, but it's just not what I wanted in the end.

This only got a 1 star as I couldnt give it the 💩 star rating that I wanted to give it. This is the worst piece of furniture EVER. Putting it together, you need to be an octopus. The dowels are weak and break and the holes are too big. The shelves keep falling out. The wood is crap compressed rubbish that breaks when screwing in the screws. The backing to the shelving unit is bowed and doesn't slide in to the grooves. Overall it's only good for firewood.

The bookshelf is quite beautiful once put together. The instructions were easy to read and follow which was nice. HOWEVER, there is nothing holding the middle shelves in besides those of tiny wooden stick inserts. They kept falling over and moving because there's nothing holding them together (no nails or screws). Unfortunately you can tell when you look at the shelves that they keep slipping out of place. Might have to use super glue or something to keep them in and sturdy. Because the middle shelves kept moving it made the last instructions difficult.
