In all circumstances, before exposing the timber to the elements, you need to treat it with suitable wood/teak oil; if you are going to leave your furniture exposed outdoors, it is recommended you take extra care of it; Outdoor Furniture Oil Application - before use, wipe down all timbers with a damp rag to remove any dust etc.; once the timber is dry apply a suitable wood/teak oil (with UV resistance) to all the timber, once dry, apply a second coat; regular applications of oil, at least twice a year will be required, depending on your climatic conditions, you may need more; It is recommended to use Feast Watson Outdoor Furniture Oil - Hardwood, with UV resistance & follow their directions for use; Outdoor Furniture Cover - for maximum protection, especially in extreme weather conditions, cover your outdoor furniture or store away when not in use for long periods; Important Note- if you leave the timber fully exposed to bake in the sun, the moisture content in the timber will be completely drawn out of the timber & will result in movement, surface cracks, splitting & warping; this is a normal reaction of the timber under the circumstances; small cracks & fissures may develop with changes in humidity & temperature; this is a natural, uncontrollable characteristic of solid wood furniture & is completely normal
