"Birrbay Connection" is a story about my connection to Biripi country. It represents our connection with the earth, from the mountains all the way to the sea. This painting symbolises my connection to our ancestors & their connection to us, how they guide us through our lives & protect us. It has our three brother mountains which is a creation story of my country.
Our totem, the shark, signifies our connection to both saltwater & freshwater. This artwork also represents my people. The entire painting brings together all that is important in our connection to people & Country, which is inclusive of land, water, & the sky, as well as to our ancestors. These connections are infinite.
