Bettina Cat Tree

I would really love to give this item a higher rating, I really would, but it has some major flaws. It looks absolutely adorable, great colour scheme and very pretty wood finishing on the particleboard. On the other hand, it is not the greatest design. The middle box with the cut-outs isn't securely fastened, because the attachments don't quite fit. The screws with the flat ends aren't quite long enough to go all the way through, and the drilled holes don't match up properly with the parts. Frankly, it needs way more fastenings to make it truly secure. Every time I move it, or my cat bounds onto it, the whole thing shakes and comes apart. I plan to get some extra fastenings from a local store to make it more secure. The clear plastic bowl section had no holes for screws whatsoever, so I didn't end up using it and left the gap clear. I think my cat would be far too heavy, anyway. Finally, there isn't a lot of space for my cat to move from the second level to the top of the cut-out box. Would suit a kitten more, I suspect. A bit more attention to detail, and this could be a lot better. Still, if you're after a budget cat climbing frame, and don't mind putting extra time in to fix it, it's a good purchase.

I needed a new cat tree for my cat and I searched all over the internet for weeks trying to find the perfect one but wasn’t having any luck as majority of cat trees online all look the same until I went on to the Temple and Webster site to purchase another item and the first thing that popped up was the Bettina cat tree and without hesitation I purchased it. I love the design and the use of colours and different textures and materials which makes this cat tree look so fresh and so different to all the other cat trees that all look alike. One thing that I like about this cat tree is that it doesn’t have the fluffy woolly type material which now means no more mess all over my place after my cat would get his claws in it. The Bettina cat tree looks very modern and stylish but also fresh and bright and is pleasant to look at and to have on display in my living room.

This cat tree looks beautiful, but unfortunately that’s the only good thing about it. It seems to have been designed by someone who has never owned a cat. The unattached cushion made it difficult for my cats to climb up without slipping on it. The space between the different levels is so small that even my 3 month old very skinny kitten couldn’t comfortably move from one platform to the next. All materials are hard and varnished making it slippery for playful cats. The posts are not sisal but a thin polyester fabric with plastic underneath so cats can’t use their claws to climb it, and my cats’ nails kept getting caught in the tough fabric. The varnished platforms are so slippery that my small kitten, who is usually a champion climber, fell from it twice and I had to get rid of the tree as it is a hazard to my cats. Buy at your own risk!

Nice enough product, well constructed and hardy however my cats don’t use it. The assembly instructions are pictorial and parts were alphabetical however the parts didn’t have those on a sticker which made assembly challenging!
