Certainly is very thick and provides a noticeably more cushion-y surface to sleep on, over my medium-firm mattress. BUT You can feel the grooves/seams and I find it a little difficult to turn in my sleep. Ultimately the lack of mobility has made me decide to ditch this in favour of just buying a new mattress. This was a perfect edition for the sofa bed.
