Emerald green is the colour of the year for 2013 according to Pantone, the US-based colour authority which describes it as "Lively. Radiant. Lush… A colour of elegance and beauty that enhances our sense of well-being, balance and harmony."
We've created a Pinterest board showcasing emerald green and featuring everything from an emerald-tiled bathroom and emerald kitchen cupboards to more subtle touches of emerald in ceramics, fabrics and accessories.
We asked stylist Shannon Fricke for her advice: "Emerald green is a bold and brave choice to integrate into your decorating scheme. It's sophisticated and uplifting with a cool, calm edge. It offers a kind of 'chilled happiness' and never fails to bring a smile. Best applied in blocks or through geometric patterning (think rugs, upholstery, drapery) and combined with other colours of intensity such as hot pink, chirpy yellow and black. Think Palm Springs and Slim Aarons and a cocktail by the pool... oh yeah!"
Emerald green can add life to softer colours or a lovely crisp contrast to black & white. We love it with teal, turquoise or purple too - think about the way it appears in nature in hydrangeas. Of course the easiest way of all to add emerald accents is with an indoor plant or a vase of natural foliage.
If you're up for painting, our friends at Murobond suggest Oasis, Aral Sea or Caravanserai from Sibella Court's Travellers & Magicians range. If you'd prefer just to dip a toe in the trend, visit our Emerald Pinterest board for inspiration, then shop today's sale events for a fresh new feel.
