It’s laminated particle board, but it’s a sturdy bookcase if you attach it to the wall (advised if you have small children or pets (hint - cats). If you rent and can’t secure it, then what you see in the advertisement is an accurate reflection of how to stack this bookshelf. It holds about 5 kgs per shelf and that is at a push. I have a couple of heavy photography books and because there is about a 3 mm gap between the bottom tier and the base it causes the whole bookcase to lean forward. I chose not to put them on. That is the only reason a gave it four stars. Assembly can take a little time, so pay attention to the assembly instructions. It does come with a small screwdriver, but I preferred to use my own Phillips head as it made it a lot easier to secure the screws. Overall it’s fantastic value for the price and quite an attractive little addition to our lounge. |

The bookshelf is very beautiful. I have set approximately 24-30 books on it. Please note that the bookshelf is supposed to be attached to the wall. Otherwise it will be bend a little bit forward due to the weight of the books. If you don't want it to be attached to the wall then probably add less books to shelf to avoid bending.

Not bad, not great. Looks very nice, but highly recommended fixing to a stud in the wall, especially if you have a lot of heavy books, otherwise it’ll come crumpling down. |

I think it needs to be drill in the wall if you put alot of heavy books as it can’t hold heavy item. Overall, product as described. Nice design but I wish they made it more stable that it can stand alone. |

Love it. Not solid timber (which I knew) and not a fan of laminate chipboard style, but it's pretty good and does the job. Instructions could be better to show which way certain pieces go. |
